Our Challenge:
How can we motivate New Zealanders to upskill their te reo vocabulary during Māori Language Week, knowing the majority of us struggle to speak even a handful of words?
Our Story:
Meet “Cocka Tumeke”, the cockatoo that we attempted to tech more te reo than the average Kiwi. With the help of a professional bird trainer and ambassadors, Guyon Espiner and Pere Wihongi, we created a campaign that shared Cocka Tumeke’s progress over Māori Language Week, give Kiwis a cheeky nudge to try out-reo him along the way.
